Substitution Box

Description

A Substitution Box is a tool for electronics experimenters, prototypers, and repairers. It lets you swap values of components in a circuit without having to install and remove them individually, saving you time, frustration, and PCB damage while you determine the best value for the job. It’s really handy for a lot of electronics tinkering, from dialing in the perfect value on a breadboard to finalizing a value on a PCB prototype and even as a tool for trouble-shooting and repairing equipment.

Here’s the features that make our Sub Box a really useful item for your workbench:

*95 high quality through hole components including 44 resistors, 33 capacitors, and 18 diodes

*1 Watt Yageo 5% Metal Film resistors in standard values from 10R to 10M

*100V Wima film capacitors in standard values from 100pF to 1uF

*100V Rubycon aluminum electrolytic capacitors from 1.5uF to 1000uF

*Common diodes are available in single and back-to-back combinations including Si, Ge, red LEDs, white LEDs

*8 x 1P12T rotary switches, 360 degree rotation, make before break contacts

*Beefy binding posts for 4mm banana plugs with tighten-down connection also

*Heavy aluminum 1590XX die cast enclosure in gloss black powder coat

*600V/5A 18 awg wiring

*Each component DMM tested in build before shipping

Here’s the operational details about the Sub Box that we think are important:

*Resistor groups are in series so you can add resistor values together to make resistances in between the standard values

*Capacitor groups are in parallel so you can combine them to make capacitances in between the standard values

*The rotary switches rotate all the way around so you can go from max to min values in one click

*The PCB has a solid copper bottom layer ground plane which is also connected to the chassis, important for high gain circuits
